What is GrandWalk? Geographically, GrandWalk is the section of land between the cities of Grand Rapids and Walker, Michigan, and it has the potential to become a national model of sustainability for living, working, and running a business.
SUSTAINABILITY PLEDGE
ECONOMIC
Retain, expand, and attract business within a sustainable eco-industrial business community; enhance public infrastructure, transit, and services supporting existing businesses and land to create new industrial, commercial, and housing development
ENVIRONMENTAL
Create an industrial recycling symbiosis, where waste creates opportunities to enhance an ecologically advanced way of business; create an international model of “best practices” where manufacturers produce the materials, products, technology, and intellectual capital which are sold worldwide to move towards a globally sustainable future
SOCIAL
Assemble partnerships of collaboration in research, innovation, and higher education to benefit and connect the neighborhood, region and state, using GrandWalk as the engine of production on the platform of sustainability
PROSPECTUS

We invite you to download and review the contents of the prospectus and hope you will become engaged with us in creating a national model of community sustainability. Most of the strategies and ideas found in this prospectus result from our conversations with GrandWalk citizens and business representatives, but this listening and learning process is far from complete. In the upcoming months, we plan to meet
with many of you to learn more about your ideas and advance the GrandWalk redevelopment initiative. |
